SCC Nepal Network

Launched in March 2024 in partnership with Women for Human Rights (WHR) and Youth Action for Sustainable and Eco Nepal (YASEN), SCC Nepal is building a national platform to advance gender-inclusive climate leadership grounded in equity, intersectionality, and justice. The network engages youth climate activists, civil society, and indigenous groups to amplify marginalized voices in national and global climate dialogues. Through consultations, roundtables, and youth gatherings like LCOY, SCC Nepal is advocating for stronger gender representation in climate policy and decision-making. An additional focus of the network is supporting women farmers as they transition to climate-resilient practices, recognizing their vital role in building local solutions and food security in the face of climate change.

  • March 2024: On March 10, the Nepal Network was officially launched in partnership with the Women for Human Rights (WHR) and the Youth Action for Sustainable and Eco Nepal (YASEN). Coordinators representing the SHE Changes Climate movement were Shristi Adhikari (former Nepal Network Lead) and Dikshya Subedi (now Nepal Network Lead).

The main component of this collaborative, in-person event was a panel discussion that delved into the IWD2024 theme of "Invest in Women". Representatives of Civil Society Organizations, Indigenous Groups, and Youth made the discussion both lively and constructive, a testament to the importance of diversity of voices and perspectives.

  • June 2025: Participation in waste management conference.

  • August 2025: SCC Nepal participated in LCOY Nepal 2024, a national youth climate conference that brought together over 200 young leaders from across the country. The event served as a platform for youth to engage in climate dialogue, share solutions, and build networks for collective action. SCC Nepal contributed to discussions on gender-inclusive climate leadership and the importance of amplifying youth voices in policy spaces.

  • September 2024: Country-wide consultation highlighted the need to addres the under-representation of women in climate decision-making processes. The dialogue illustrated how many women contribute to climate action in isolation, limiting their collective impact. Participants emphasized the need for a collaborative, gender-responsive approach, with priority actions including mapping climate organizations, conducting baseline studies, and building advocacy networks to strengthen inclusive climate leadership across the country.

  • Participated in a roundtable discussion on gender and intersectional approaches ahead of COP, focusing on integrating gender justice and intersectionality into national and international climate agendas. The pre-COP dialogue explored strategies to elevate marginalized voices and ensure more inclusive representation in global climate negotiations. Participants shared insights and recommendations to strengthen gender-responsive outcomes at COP.

  • May 2025: 2-day workshop in Dhanushadham Municipality, Madhesh Province, bringing together women leaders to build climate resilience in one of Nepal’s most vulnerable regions. Through interactive sessions on climate change, sustainable agriculture, financial literacy, and leadership, participants gained practical tools to lead local adaptation efforts. A live demonstration of a climate-resilient village showcased real-world solutions like water conservation and agroecology. The event was held in collaboration with YASEN, Mithila Wildlife Trust, CCPM, and local women’s farming groups.
