We are more powerful when women and men lead climate action together.

We advocate for increased women’s leadership in climate discussions and decision-making, aiming for measurable gains in their representation and influence at all levels.

Female political representation remains an underutilized tool in addressing climate change. Studies show that women in leadership drive stronger, more effective and inclusive climate policies, yet systemic barriers continue to limit their participation. In addition, women often hold deep, practical knowledge of their ecosystems. Their lived experiences equip them to identify and implement context-specific climate solutions.

We take a multi-faceted approach to ensure women are meaningfully included in climate conversations and decision-making:

  • We raise awareness about the critical role of women’s leadership in shaping effective climate solutions.

  • We identify and empower women climate leaders, providing them with opportunities to share their perspectives and strengthen their capacity and skills.

  • We identify systemic barriers that hinder women’s participation in climate governance at local, national, and international levels, addressing the root causes of their exclusion.

We focus on the deep intersection between climate change and gender inequalities by generating more evidence, advocating for gender responsive policies, and mobilising increased financing to reduce these inequities.

While climate and environmental changes affect everyone, certain groups are increasingly facing greater disadvantages. We emphasize the urgent need for equitable climate action that tackles the unique challenges faced by women.

To reduce gender inequalities in climate :

  • We generate robust evidence on the intersection of gender and climate, highlighting how gender dynamics influence climate impacts and solutions.

  • We raise awareness of the intersectionality in climate and gender, particularly within specific thematic areas such as health, climate migration, energy, agriculture and livelihoods, ocean, and nature-based solutions, among others.

  • We advocate for gender-responsive approaches into global and national climate policies and action plans.

  • We advocate for increased finance for women-led and gender-sensitive climate initiatives.
