“If there’s one thing this campaign showed: when women lead climate action, the results are equitable, enduring, and transformative.”

Green Economies, Powered by Women
As the world accelerates its shift toward greener, more sustainable economies, it is essential that these transitions are inclusive, equitable, and gender-responsive. Women entrepreneurs are driving innovation, resilience, and community-level solutions in the face of climate change. Yet, their contributions often remain under-recognized and under-supported.
The campaign “Green Economies, Powered by Women” - in collaboration with Green Economy Coalition and IIED - was launched to spotlight and expand economic opportunities for women entrepreneurs engaged in green transitions. With a particular focus on South Asia, parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, and Brazil, the campaign sought to amplify the success stories of women leading in sustainable and circular economies, while also highlighting the structural barriers they face.
Through a dynamic awareness-raising and social media campaign, the initiative generated significant engagement and a wealth of case studies demonstrating the potential of women-led enterprises in driving green transitions. These stories revealed not only the innovation and leadership of women entrepreneurs but also the need for targeted support, visibility, and investment.
